Hard Crochet!!!

I got this book Hard Crochet by  Mark Dittrick and it was love at first sight! Only thing is trying to find yarn that he used!!!

But he goes into so much detail, I/you could make your own patterns effortlessly. I miss days of 5 page instructions, when you actually learn something from it!

I want to make this hat for Steve!!

1956 Crochet in 2013

I did it I finished my butterfly! Original pattern called for tatting thread which is thinner than size 10 cotton but I wanted a large butterfly! So with a size 9 steel hook and size 10 cotton thread, I done it! And I love it!!! Hoping to incorporate it in the back of a vest! The pattern is very good from this book!

Hope you like!!!

My latest hat?!

I thought I was going to do my fishing hat over, well I guess I have a hard time sticking to one pattern. Even that got massively altered.
Next one I did was a baby sun hat and everyone loved it so much, think I'm going to try to do it over. And write it down!
Steve is still wanting a fishing hat, he really liked the one I already did but the poor guy has a little head and it looked funny on him after I washed and blocked it. But when my friend, Candace put it on She looked so darn cute in it, I gave it to her, she loved it and I didn't even know her birthday was only a couple days away!!!
Well, anyway here is a picture of the baby hat that I am going to do over cause some friends want one!

Next one I plan on taking the Fpdc all the way down cause I'm not real happy with it looking all uneven!
Thanks you for taking time to look! Feel free to comment! Really enjoy getting feedback!

Crocheted fishing hat

Finally finished Steve's fishing hat!
Hopefully I'll be able to post more details later. Made with 1 strand of cotton string and 1 strand of hemp string held together.
It started out really stiff but softened after wash. I added eyelets for extra ventilation!
Thinking of adding a drawstring kind of thing to keep him from losing it, Idk.
This is my creation any comments or suggestions are welcome!

This is Steve, before final touches!

Fisher Man's Hat

This is a little different than picture but same concept! Cotton/hemp got softer when washed, and nylon seems a bit too shiny for your average redneck! Still searching for material I want for Steve's hat! Decided to share this here but anymore hats and hat patterns will be at www.hookedhats.com

If you look for a sz on nylon #18 would work, hope someone gets use from this!!!

Materials:

Omega nylon size 18 2 rolls (very little used from second roll)

16 WPI, 197 yards (not sure yet, but could sub coats nylon)

Artificial suede (approx. 1/8 in.) note: I plan on using real suede 1/8in. on the remake,

and it seems to be a bit thicker feeling than the artificial.

Wal-Mart and many places have the 4 color pkg. around jewelry making supplies.

I'm using that for the band.

Hooks F/3.75mm, E/3.50mm, and G/4.25mm for trim

Gauge: at the end of round 4 should be approx. 4 inches across

Size Approx. 21 1/4 inches around

This is the first pattern I've ever written so please feel free to read through and check for

errors, misspellings, grammar, etc. and please let me know so that I may be able to correct them!

Thank You for taking time, effort and patience with me!

Angry red cardinal hat!!!

I didn't think this hat was going to make it, mean Kentucky fans in my house although it looks more like a angry bird.

I liked a few Cardinal patterns on etsy and a few free angry bird patterns, I sketched out a picture of the features I liked and tried to crochet it. I think it turned out pretty good, whatcha think? I still need to figure out the top of the head!

Moving Day!!!(updated 4/11/13)

Well folks, I think I like wordpress better, although I realize I am new to all this but if technology goes as it has, then day 1 is a good place to start! Hoping to learn it without putting my life (theirs) on hold!
This is going to be a slow easy transition, I hope!
My latest hat is hemp, not as stiff as I'd like but it definitely shows promise! Not finished but wanted to share!!

****as of 4/11/13 I still haven't got other blog going. I thought my husband was going to help me but apparently his job and friends need all his time. I will continue on here and try to figure out things on my own.

A little green before spring!

I seen a pin last week that recycled tees into rugs by just carrying it along as you would a second yarn. Instantly made me think of an old sheet I was saving for rags or whatever and some peaches n cream yarn I have had forever!
So I frantically began cutting all around this sheet about an inch or so to make a long continuous strip, not much fun. Then I ran and found my yarn to begin this fun project!

It is almost Valentine's Day!

We have had the flu lately and it don't want to leave!!! I absolutely hate being sick!

I have managed to almost complete my Valentine project!!! It is a knit fedora with crochet trim hand felted to avoid over felting! I really like how it turned out so far.

I think maybe next time I'll remember to get dressed!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!!!!

It's been gloomy!

It's been unusually busy for me these past few weeks. I did manage to get a few things done I wanted to.
I wanted to share my first ever hairpin lace project, it's quite simple and Jessie likes it even though I made a few mistakes(it was my first)

I also finally finished a penguin hat for my son's friend (modeled by Jessie)

And a simple little beanie for my Great Niece! I got to keep Enly for a whole week, so much energy!!!

And this past weekend, SusieQ said "Mommy, I'm tired of being cold, make me something!" SusieQ got a new mobius cowl from hand spun wool!!!

Still need to finish a few more projects before I can begin my vintage hat patterns. I am also working on turning my basement into a craft room and that is not going very quick at all!!!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful year!!! Feel free to leave any comments, suggestions, and such! I'd love to get some kind of feedback!

Crocheted felted hat

Crocheted felted hat

I really like this hat, needs a bit more needle felting. It turned out small than I like.
